Scots Gold

The Best Whisky Bars In London

In a city that prides itself on a bustling nightlife, diversity, and a penchant for a drink (or two), there definitely isn’t a shortage of some great whisky watering holes! Here are our recommendations.

Milroy's

                                                             Milroys-of-soho

Never to be excluded from any whisky lists. London’s oldest whisky shop is home to of the golden liquid, and brilliant staff members that are more than eager to impart their whisky wisdom. Head on over to their speakeasy-style bar ‘The Vault’ to get your tastes buds sipping on some of the whiskies Scotland (and London) has to offer.

Opening hours: Mon: 10-19:00. Tue-Sat: 10-00:00. Sun: Closed

Salt

Part whisky bar part Indian restaurant. It’s really a natural pairing when you learn that India is the biggest consumer of whisky in the world. Here you can find a great selection of scotch, bourbon, and Japanese whisky but we recommend you take this time to discover Indian whiskies. Why not have it accompanied by some delicious Indian snacks? We think it would be rude not too…

Black Rock

                                                             Black-Rock-Bar

A relative newbie on the scene (it opened in 2016) but it has definitely made an impression on whisky aficionados thanks to the gigantic 18ft 185-year-old oak tree, split in half and turned into an interactive whisky ageing system and table. However, don’t let this distract you too much from their impressive whisky selection, which has been usefully categorised by flavour. This is a bar that we think both whisky connoisseurs and beginners can appreciate.

The Britannia

For somewhere a little bit more cosy and traditional head on over to The Britannia, a pub located in central London. This charming pub won't leave you disappointed with their carefully selected 130 whisky menu. Not sure what to pick? You can’t go wrong with a taste of their Malt of the Month. This is one of those classic London gems that make us unsure whether we want to keep this delightful secret to ourselves or share with our fellow whisky lovers.

Boisdale of Canary Wharf

                                        Boisdale-of-canary-wharf

No London whisky list would be complete without a mention of this bar. Boasting over a 1,000 (yes you read that right) whisky choices you will be hard press to find a dram that didn’t suit your taste bud.  You may need to squeeze your way through some impressive suits before you are greeted by the 12m long whisky wall but when you get there, you are going to want a minute or two to take all that gold in.
